Large Red Damselfly

Large Red Damselfly (Pyrrhosoma nymphula)

A few Large Red Damselflies have emerged from my pond and are tentatively exploring my garden. From a distance they don't look too impressive but up close they are very delicately marked and are surprisingly colourful.

  1. A handsome creature. We get very few dragonflies around here and tend to get the short stumpy blue ones, whose names escapes me at the moment.

  2. You are lucky to have your own pond and all its attendant wildlife. I live in a flat with just a few dieing plants in pots outside!
